I loved Rose when she was first introduced to the family but throughout the show it has seemed like she uses all these guys for her own pleasure ad then discards them without feeling much sense of loss. Look at the way she treated Jack Ross! She didn't seem very cut up about it despite telling Mary she was 'disappointed' in her. Seriously? That's it? We all saw how in love he was with her. I find her kind of callous after it all. Who knows how long her infatuation with Atticus will last?
I think the early Rose was a little more self centered and immature because she was in fact still very young. Also, living with her parents who obviously despised each other and always being criticized by her mother did not help at all.
Lady Rose did teach Anna how to dance which I think is very generous of her.
She also volunteered taking care of the Russian refugees and her quick thinking avoided what might have been a huge scandal for her father in law.
In season 6, Rose wanted to take time and talk to the servants of Downton when she first arrived with Atticus. She went downstairs, she talked to Anna and the other servants and even showed them her baby pictures.
I do think that there was a change from the early Rose (pre Atticus) to the grown up Rose of seasons 5 and 6.
