- Mead: "Come on. This is the driver who took up Lady Rose from outside the house, milady."
- — Mead announces to Lady Rosamund Painswick the arrival of the man who drove Lady Rose MacClare, in 1920.[src]
Mead is Lady Rosamund Painswick's butler at her Belgrave Square house. He brings in the taxi driver who took Rose out and urges him to tell Rosamund, Matthew, and Edith why the driver was sent up to the dining room.
Mead had a sister living in Swindon, which he visited when Lady Rosamund was staying at Downton Abbey in the summer of 1922. While Mary, Anna, and Rose stayed with Rosamund in London, Mary distressed at Mead's absence when a footman announced dinner.
