James Fox (born as William Fox on 19th May 1939; London, England) is a veteran British actor who appeared in the 2013 Christmas Special of Downton Abbey as Lord Aysgarth.
His other screen credits include the TV show Merlin (which also starred Janet Montgomery, Cal MacAninch, and Alice Patten), the 2009 film Sherlock Holmes (which also starred Geraldine James), and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

- He is the brother of the actor Edward Fox. Edward Fox had been married to actress Tracy Reed (1958–1961). Reed is the granddaughter of the socialite Freda Dudley Ward, played by Janet Montgomery (who portrayed the daughter of James Fox's character in Merlin).
