Hugh Bonneville (born as Hugh Richard Bonneville Williams on 10th November, 1963; Blackheath, England) is the actor who plays Robert Crawley in Downton Abbey.

Bonneville attended Cambridge university and Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art. He has appeared in many television series including Doctor Who, Poirot and The Vicar of Dibley.

He was in the movie "From Time to Time" with Maggie Smith and Allen Leech, directed by Julian Fellowes.

  • Bonneville had a cameo role in the pilot episode of Da Vinci's Demons, a series whose main cast includes Downton co-stars Michael Culkin and James Faulkner.
