The Cottage Hospital (built/obtained before 1895[1]) is the local hospital in the village where Richard Clarkson works.
Series 1[]
A new medical procedure was performed on farmer John Drake at the behest of Isobel Grey and she is installed as chairman of the board.
Isobel has a nurse open the stores so that she can treat Mr. Molesley's skin condition while Dr. Clarkson is away.
Series 2[]
The hospital treats wounded soldiers brought home from the war, but the suicide of an officer named Edward Courtenay convinces Dr Clarkson to open a convalescent home in Downton Abbey.
Series 3-4[]
Dr Clarkson insists on taking Sybil Branson here when he sees signs of pre-eclampsia. Unfortunately his warnings are not heeded by Lord Grantham and Sybil dies.
George Crawley is born here in 1921, and later Isobel and Dr Clarkson run a clinic sponsored by the hospital.

- ↑ Robert confirms his father gave the building and Edith mentions that Robert's father left the grandchildren trust funds. Sybil was born in 1895, so the building (and trust funds) had to have been given/built/created, at the latest, in 1895.
