Canningford Grange is the home of the Aldridge family.
When Lord Sinderby purchased it, the house was in ruins. He used his vast wealth to renovate it.
Lord and Lady Sinderby held a large party there in 1924, to which their son Atticus Aldridge invited Lady Rose MacClare and her Crawley relatives. Charles Blake, Anthony Foyle, and Mabel Lane Fox were in attendance as well. Atticus, Mabel, and Lady Mary Crawley all participated in a horse race, after which the Crawleys made the acquaintance of the Sinderbys and invited them to dinner at Downton.
Later that year, when Lord Sinderby rented Brancaster Castle in Northumberland for the grouse season, he took his butler Stowell from Canningford with him.
