If she does it only with Edith then she is just a bully, if she does it to everyone, or at least in business and anyone that crosses her, then it does show a certain strength of character to go with a mean streak. She has certainly shown the latter when it comes to Mabel Lane Fox. I was hoping to see a few instances where in business she makes the hard decisions and does some of the dirty work (pigs not withstanding) that her father would not, much like Scarlet O'Hara in GWTW.
Well she was placed in an uncomfortable situation by Blake with Mabel Lane Fox so their verbal jousting was understandable. You also sense they could become friends. But with Edith it just made no sense to be so cruel, especially since Mary lost her husband etc. I thought the character had grown beyond the personality we saw in the first season.
Well, you sometimes see that in sisters, the endless fighting and such. I'm the eldest of three girls, and my other sisters are practically Edith and Sybil (except the Edith-one isn't as irritating), and we're always at each other (except for the youngest because she is the sweetest).
I think you understand it more when you have sisters, as I do, what it's like to constantly be at it.
and it's as Lady Grantham said: when you have daughtes, you think it's going to be like Little Women, but they're at each other's throats sunup to sun down
That is true Cora...so true
My three sisters must be the exception to the rule :)
Anyone every watch the 1960s American sit-com My Three Sons?
